Fire Pit -2

I wanted a portable firepit for when doing LARP (Live Action Role Play) to provide warmth and a cooking surface.

The result was that I designed this little beauty and with my brilliant Dad's help (he sourced the materials also) built it.

It consists of a base unit with box sections in each corner into which fit half-box section legs. On top of that can sit (the optional) cooking platform which consists of a frame and wire mesh with the same corner box sections for the same leg units. See the following photographs for the constructed items.

The top section fits inside the bottom for storage and the legs are stored in the box. It's far from being light, but it is portable as long as you have a car or similar!

I have recently drilled three holes into the bottom of the main fire pit as lighting and keeping lit a fire has proved troublesome as no air can be drawn into the base of the fire. I may nee to add more holes. I may also add a sliding plate on the underside to allow those holes to be shuttered down to vary the air intake once the fire is established.
